CalArts Contemporary Vocal Ensemble – Sound from the Bench by Ted Hearne

“…scored for two electric guitars and drums alongside the chorus, and the relations between the two groups — the mechanized, scarily protean sounds of the instruments on one side and the distinctly human singing on the other — turns into a deft and fertile metaphor…a reaction to Jena Osman's incredible book "Corporate Relations," a collection of poems that follows the historical trajectory of corporate personhood in the United States. The five movements combine language taken from landmark Supreme Court Cases with words from ventriloquism textbooks.” - tedhearne.com

Featuring:

Nicholas Deyoe & Zac Burgenbauch, electric guitars

TBD, drums + percussion

What is (placeHolder)? We don’t really know. One fateful night, in the Fall of 2020, three noisy people – M A Harms, Eric Lennartson, and Daniel Newman-Lessler – put together a house show in Somis, CA. Unbeknownst to them, that singular event would spark lifelong friendships and lots and lots of music. Sometimes it’s a soft and simple droning on pump organs accompanying folk melodies; other times it is a fury of feedback and rogue electronics; frequently it is an eruption of a joyous cacophony; and always it is something new, unexpected, and a complete departure from previous performances.

(placeHolder) @ NorCal Noise Fests Audio Waffle

The first Norcal Experimental Music Festival event was held at the Guild Theatre in Sacramento,California on November 3rd, and 4th in 1995. Performers came from all over the western United States and Canada to create sound art and noise and be among peers that were doing the same thing.. and thus the NF "sound art" movement was started....

2013 marks the 18 year anniversary of NOISEFEST happening in the Sacramento area, and will be our 17th actual event.

After searching the web and beyond ..we have yet to find ANY other Noise/Experimental festival happening anywhere else in the World that has continued for as long as NorCal NoiseFest has..
we thank you for your patronage.
